In addition to serving as dean, Randy is also a faculty member in the University’s Department of Social and Public Health where he teaches courses on family dynamics, health policy, and families & aging. His research interests have revolved around patterns of nonresidential parent involvement with children and the impact of family policy on child outcomes.

In addition to Randy’s work at Ohio University, he is actively engaged in community activities in both central and southeast Ohio. He presently serves on the boards of OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Rural Action, Live Healthy Appalachia, Dublin Chamber of Commerce, and Athens HOPE.

Randy holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science from The Ohio State University. He and his wife Theresa split their time between Athens, Ohio and Hilliard, Ohio. They have three children and two grandchildren who keep them quite busy
