CDF-Ohio Testifies on Ohio’s Budget Bill in Ohio Senate

May 10, 2023

Ohio’s budget process continues as the Ohio Senate now considers what their own version of House Bill 33 will sustain, add, or remove in investments and policy provisions for Ohio’s biennial budget bill. This week, CDF-Ohio submitted testimony to the Ohio Senate Health Committee and the Ohio Senate Education Committee calling on lawmakers to make budgetary decisions in the interests of all Ohio’s children.

“We have a saying, that children do not come in pieces, and neither should our policy and budget decisions when it comes to their overall wellbeing,” said CDF-Ohio Director Kim Eckhart in remarks to Ohio’s Senate Health Committee members. “We are committed to advocating for the prioritization of the whole child in the FY 24-25 Ohio budget, which includes ensuring adequate investments in the systems they rely on and the communities they call home. The budget is a moral document that is a reflection of our priorities as a state, and we must do right by our children and youth – the future of Ohio. We must ensure our budget invests in and protects essential programs all children need to live in dignity.”
