We are thrilled to welcome our Summer Intern, Sydney Green! This summer Sydney is assigned to conduct a research and product analysis, landscape scan, and development of the resource roadmap for our Infant Mortality Dashboard, which is currently in production. Q & A:
What inspires you to serve?
My mother inspires me in so many areas, but the first one was to serve others in any way I could. Having such an empathetic mother like mine created a passion in me to do social justice work, and when my mother started teaching kindergarten I knew children was the population I really wanted to serve. In addition, my students that I have mentored and tutored with various organizations inspire me to wake up every morning and serve them again and again.
What is the change you want to see in the world?
I want to see the negative stigma surrounding mental illness change to only positive and loving support. I want there to be more resources surrounding mental illness and emotion recognition to be put into the school systems, so that children are not labeled as “bad” or “disruptive”. Instead, they are given the resources and support they need to be able to succeed emotionally.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself graduating from law school.
